Robert Frost (1874-1963) is often considered to be a poet of nature in general, and a poet of New England in particular. People enjoy reading his poems, because his poems look simple, direct and natural. But actually, Frost’s poems are almost never as simple, direct and natural as they appear to be. In this lecture, I want to explore one of the most inspiring elements in his poetry. That is the deceptive simplicity in the poetry of Robert Frost.
