12090327 firstly, this video vividly presents us the development and the change of the meaning of “junzi”. long long ago, “junzi” is the image of the son of the king. in confucius’ time, confucius extend the junzi’s meaning. he thought that junzi should possess the good morality and talents. confucius popularize and explain the spirit of “junzi”( good morality and talents) to normal people, because this image is easy for common people to follow. however, the role of “the son of the king” is not easy to realize, since not everyone is the king’s son. therefore, people would like to behave as a “junzi” and with time going by, more and more people will be educated under this spirit of “junzi”. secondly, i think professor jiang is a very good and talented teacher, because she explain the “junzi” in confucius’s eyes quite clearly and vividly in english. and the whole framework is quite logic. at the same time, i quite appreciate the interacting time in the video. the teacher explores the difference of the image of “knight” and the image of “junzi” with students. and a foreign student shows us the history of the image of “knight” with us. from the comparison, i can learn the spirit of “junzi” deeper.

高中时，语文老师讲过论语，用中文解释论语，仍然听得有些迷糊，我自己曾经也尝试过用英文对“君子”这一形象进行解释，但真的是很不容易，很多古中文不知道该怎么表达才能既让人听懂，又不失真。所以这堂课真的解释得很不错。

孔子的君子形象一直是中国人行事的道德准则，但解释起来却没有那么简单，更别提是用英文授课了。但这堂课全程英文授课，用语简单易懂却不失孔夫子的君子品质。

i think professor jiang made a fabulous comparison between junzi in chinese history and gentleman in european countries. few teachers could compare classical chinese culture with foreign culture comprehensively and thoroughly. in the lead-in part, she presented three pictures and analyzes the chinese character to arouse students’ interest. then, she quoted from the analects of confucius to better elaborate the meaning of junzi. what’s more, professor jiang also put forward many topics for students to research. all in all, i benefit a lot from this mini-lesson, which i can’t learn from other classes. 

江老师的讲解很清晰明了，在看视频之前一直以为君子与gentleman是划等号的，这个视频给我上了很深刻的一堂课，也让我对中国的古典文化有了更浓厚的兴趣。其实江老师在平时也会将中国的古典文化融入课堂，让我们在学习英美文学的同时，找到中西文化中的共鸣之处，让我们获益匪浅！
