i love this course, not only because i love confucianism, but i enjoy the style of teaching, which is quite approachable. in this class, the teacher leads in by a vivid picture presented and by raising questions, then she analyzes the image of junzi and qualities junzi are required to equip. the contents are quite attractive and sustantial. at last, the teacher communicates with students at present about comparison between gentleman and junzi, development of confucius institution around the world. the teacher makes a deeper exploration of confucianism and inspires students to have a deeper study of confucianism if interested. -

in my opinion, i benefit a lot from the intersting comparation between "junzi" in chinese culture and gentleman in western culture. although they enjoy some similiar features, they are still different in many aspects, such as benevolence, integrity and so on. so when we translate the word "junzi" to foreigners, we should be careful, if we translate "junzi" as gentleman, maybe we had better explain the difference between them. to sum up, mr.jiang's lesson is intersting and evokes our deeper thinking. it's a good lesson. -

an engaging and stimulating class.befuddled by the differences between gentleman and junzi,i used to use these two words interchangeably.after viewing this lecture,i have got deep understanding of the disparity between these two. i am tempted to say that the similarity between gentlemen and junzi reveals some universal values,or common ground in eastern and western ethics, while it is the disparity between these two kind of "perfect man" that offers us ways to explore the culture differences in great depth.however ,it makes wonder what the differences between the "whole man " in socrates's mind and junzi in confucious's heart, since they both were born in axial age. -

best clip of teaching video ever watched! pro.jiang is awesome and really explained the whole lot junzi stuff vivid and at the same time compared it to western image of gentleman. she can make students laugh and her teaching is sort of emotional. i mean not that she is emotional yet she had devoted herself into teaching. impressive ones! i never ditch her class. and you can't miss her class! -

mr.zhang, i shall call, she is a junzi, who values knowledge over anything else. she well balanced the voice and the contents. i believe that only the person who follows the rules of junzi can behave in this confident and modest way naturally. -

mrs. jiang does not only speak excellent english, but also she can use english to interpret both traditional chinese culture and classic western culture. from this short video clip,we can see that she is good at making her students acquire what she has understood from years' working. her class began with the most basic knowledge but ended with profund insght of the essence of junzi and gentleman. 12090416施佳红janus -

there are many differences between "junzi" and gentleman, for example, junzi is a man full of knowledge and cultre, while gentleman should be wealthy and educated.it is very necessary for us to distinguish from junzi and gntleman.in my opinion, this lecture is very meaningful and insightful. -

dear professor, your class is so impressive that i can have a new and profound perspective of junzi and gentleman. before i saw this video, i never thought about connecting these two kinds of people together. now, i have many ideas about these two. ieven considered that the "ren", "shu" that confucius said may also have much to do with the qualities of gentlemen.
